本作为2016年开播的"由新锐创作者们近乎忠实原著地影像化横沟正史推理作品"系列第四部。本次以《恶魔的降临节》《镜中女》《湖泥》三篇构成。自系列首作起便饰演金田一耕助的池松壮亮，其形象正逐渐贴近角色原著设定的实际年龄。
