ゆうきまさみのマンガを原作にした本作で神山が演じるのは、外見は18歳だが実年齢は88歳である吸血鬼探偵?雪村魁（ゆきむらかい）。不老不死の体質を持つ「オキナガ」である魁は厚労省の新米職員?伏木（ふせぎ）あかりとコンビを組み、70年間にわたって未年のクリスマスに起こっている連続殺人事件、通称「羊殺し」の犯人を追う。

Playdate is based on American/Norwegian author Dahl’s (no relation to Roald Dahl) fourth novel.
